Mrs Harrison was promoted from within the force after temporarily performing the role since August 2008. She said she is looking forward to the challenges ahead, including the 2012 Olympics.

Mrs Harrison was temporary divisional commander, head of the professional standards department, programme manager for the contact management programme and then divisional commander of the communications division.
She has also worked on developing collaboration opportunities between Kent Police and Essex Police and in August 2008 was appointed as the temporary assistant chief constable.
