New ACC appointed at Grampian Police
Chief Superintendent Derek Penman has been appointed assistant chief constable for Grampian Police.

Mr Penmans appointment was confirmed last week following approval from the Grampian Joint Police Board. The boards convenor, Martin Greig, said it had been impressed by Mr Penmans leadership skills and talents. He will be a definite asset to the Grampian area and it is great to have an officer of his experience and abilities in this important position.
Mr Penman joined the service as a cadet with Central Scotland Police in 1982. He served in a variety of roles and held a number of posts within CID and the community safety department and was seconded to the Scottish Police College to develop the Police Information Net for Scotland.
After promotion to chief inspector, Mr Penman led an ambitious change programme within Central Scotland Police, including the development of centralised call handling.
Following his promotion to superintendent in 2004, he was seconded to HM Inspectorate of Constabulary of Scotland as part of a small team responsible for the inspection of Scottish police forces.
On his return to Central Scotland Police in 2006, he became head of strategic development with responsibility for business planning, performance management and the force implementation of national business change.
In February 2007, he was promoted to chief superintendent and led the introduction of a new community policing model.
He was appointed temporary assistant chief constable of Central Scotland Police in December 2007.
