Motorola’s award-winning ‘public safety ecosystem’ in spotlight
Motorola Solutions won ‘Best Use Of Mission-Critical Communications During A Major Event’ in the International Critical Communications Awards announced at June’s Critical Communications World (CCW) in Kuala Lumpur.
Motorola Solutions’ Tetra (terrestrial trunked radio) digital radios helped ensure the smooth and successful running of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. The global, 11-day sporting spectacular brought together 6,600 athletes and team officials from 70 nations and was broadcast to an international audience of 1.5 billion.
“We are pleased that our mission-critical communications were working constantly behind the scenes to deliver a positive experience for all guests and athletes at the Games,” said Motorola Solutions’ Australia and New Zealand vice-president Steve Crutchfield.
Motorola Solutions, which was showcasing its latest ‘integrated mission-critical ecosystem’ at CCW, including communications, command centre software, video security solutions and managed and support services, also won ‘Best New Infrastructure Solution’.
The award was for its DIMETRA X Core solution, which Motorola says is a “highly scalable and efficient Tetra system that meets the mission-critical communication needs of a wide variety of public safety and enterprise organisations”.
It features a ‘software-defined core’ to reduce operating costs, as well as enhanced cyber security features to protect organisations from ever increasing threats, enabling users “to get the most out of their existing networks today, while preparing for mobile broadband capabilities tomorrow”.
