The new recruits mean officer numbers were 16,603 as of November 4 – up from 16,356 on March 31, which was the lowest number of officers since the second quarter of 2008.

The latest officers were sworn in at regional training centres in the communities they will deploy to after their training.

Chief Constable Jo Farrell said: “Taking the oath of office today is a significant moment for our latest recruits.

“They are signing up to a hugely rewarding and demanding job where people will turn to them for help, often in the most critical and vulnerable circumstances.

“Taking on the responsibilities and duties of a police officer is a deeply considered decision and I thank every one of them for stepping forward to help safeguard Scotland’s communities.”

Police Scotland said the officers will be ready to deploy to communities on March 3, 2025.

It is now recruiting police officers to support its urban, rural and remote communities.
