A Metropolitan police officer is to face prosecution, following an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

Police constable Michael Ray, who is based in Ealing Borough, has been summoned to appear before City of Westminster Magistrates` Court on November 25 to answer the offence of Actual Bodily Harm.

The allegation relates to an incident in the early hours of December 5 last year, in Denmark Road, Ealing.

Several officers were responding to reports of men fighting in the street. It is alleged that, while arresting a man nearby, PC Ray assaulted him.

The IPCC managed an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service`s Directorate of Professional Standards, and a report was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service for consideration, who decided that the officer should face prosecution.
