The Met’s traffic officers have become the first in the country to use PDAs (personal digital assistants) to issue fixed penalty fines for offences ranging from using a mobile phone whist driving to driving through a red light.

Officers can now input the traffic offence data directly into the personal digital assistant and, from there, the data is then transmitted to the Traffic Criminal Justice Unit.
