Lifetime achievement award for SPA chair
Scottish Police Authority (SPA) chair Martyn Evans has received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution and dedication to public service.
The Holyrood Scottish Public Service Awards honoured his “unfaltering contribution and dedication to public service”.
The accolade was presented to the Authority’s chair by the Cabinet Secretary for Justice at the awards held in the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday (December 10)
The Public Service Awards celebrate the often-unsung contribution made to Scotland’s civic society from within the civil service, Scottish government, Scottish Parliament, local government, health and social care sector, broader public sector and their partners within the third sector.
Inspired by the late Campbell Christie and his efforts to help reform Scotland’s public services, Holyrood launched the awards in 2014 with the aim of recognising and rewarding best practice, teamwork, innovation, and clear leadership across Scotland’s diverse public services.
Speaking after the event, Mr Evans said he was honoured and privileged to receive such a prestigious award.
Mr Evans steps down as chair of the SPA at the end of his term on January 31, 2025. The Scottish government is currently advertising for a new chair.
