Wiltshire Police has received an international 'Rising Star' award for its pioneering use of robotic process automation

The pioneering use of robotic process automation (RPA) by Wiltshire Police’s ICT Robotic Delivery Team saw it named the winner in the ‘Rising Star’ category at the SS&C Blue Prism Customer Excellence Awards held in New York – an accolade that celebrates emerging leaders in intelligent automation.

And Lancashire Constabulary was the global winner of the ‘Sustainability Driver’ award, which recognised its use of intelligent automation to dramatically improve data quality, operational efficiency and community safety. This has reduced 3.2 million records to 48,000, saving more £10.5 million, and enabling faster, more effective policing while supporting national ESG and AI initiatives.

Devon and Cornwall Police was named a ‘Regional All-Star’, EMEA in the same category.

The awards are judged by a panel of global industry experts, including analysts, consultants, and journalists, and recognise organisations that are using RPA to deliver innovation, impact, and operational efficiency.

Under the leadership of Mark Levitt, head of ICT, and Lynsay Birkett, robotic delivery manager, the Wiltshire Police team has successfully implemented 25 automated processes using Blue Prism RPA, transforming how the force delivers services and supports frontline policing.

Chief of Corporate Services, John Derryman, commented: “This well-deserved award reflects the transformative work carried out by the team in this area.

“By embracing developments in automation, our Robotics Team has been able to free up time for colleagues to focus on supporting front-line policing.

“On behalf of the whole of Wiltshire Police, I heartily congratulate all those who have contributed towards this incredible achievement which will enable us to provide a better and more efficient service for the communities we serve.”

In its commendation, the judging panel remarked: “Wiltshire Police is setting a national benchmark for intelligent automation, saving £1.11 million in the first year and freeing-up 27.6 FTEs to focus on frontline policing.

“With 23 processes planned by 2025, they’ve scaled at record pace, achieving full ROI (return on investment) in just six months. Their strong governance, use of Blue Prism’s ROM2, and collaboration across UK forces are enabling sustainable transformation, better data quality, and improved public service.”

Further recognition was given to Rhys Hagen, who was named a regional runner-up in the Builder of the Year category, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to the success of the programme.
