A new niche recording solution, specifically engineered for the Custody and Witness, National Constabulary digital requirement, has been released by Red Box Recorders.

Designed to replace existing outdated analogue systems with a full HD, digital solution, it can be easily integrated with existing technology.

The Red Box Custody and Interview Suite can be delivered as a static network product to the custody and criminal investigation theatre, or as a totally portable crime scene and witness solution and is driven by simple, easy-to-use touchscreen applications. Both enable users to create digital markers by touching the screen to highlight key areas of interest and the handheld tablet option ensures added confidentiality and security.

Additional options are designed to increase security and reduce administration, including a custody monitoring application which allows the custody supervisor to view live feed from all cameras at the station, touchscreen alerts and centralised scheduling.

The recording suite is designed to be fully compatible with a range of National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) guidance, including the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Information System Strategy for the Police Service, Criminal Procedure and Investigations 1996 and the Government Protective Marking Scheme.

Lee Jones, sales director at Red Box, said: “At the moment, UK police forces typically record interviews on tapes, CDs or other removable media and face potentially considerable expense and disruption as they make the necessary change to digital systems. The Red Box Custody and Interview Suite is intuitive to use, cost-effective to purchase, easy to integrate and is fully future-proof. We believe that it will help save the UK police a significant amount of time and money, while also ensuring that evidence is presented securely, accurately and safely.”

As standard, it delivers up to four channels of audio and video, expandable up to 16 channels with a bespoke solution. It also provides independent network image streaming for added security and has full search/replay from standard browser controls with full interview reporting using fixed templates.
