Gloucestershire officer dies while on duty
Gloucestershire Constabulary has confirmed that an officer has died while on duty.
Deputy Chief Constable Katy Barrow-Grint said the force was “saddened to report the death of PC Ian Minett” on Saturday morning (June 21).
She said: “PC Minett’s death is being treated as unexplained but non-suspicious and the Coroner has been informed.
“We extend our thoughts and prayers to PC Minett’s family, friends, and colleagues, and we ask that his family are given privacy at this difficult time.”
Gloucestershire Police Federation paid tribute to the “sad on duty death” of PC Minett.
Chair Adam Williams said: “All at Gloucestershire Police Federation are devastated to hear of the on duty death of PC Ian Minett.
“I was lucky enough to work with Ian and he was well liked amongst all that had the pleasure of working alongside him and getting to know him. It is a massive loss to the shift, the station, and to the Constabulary as a whole.”
He added: “Our thoughts are with Ian’s family, friends and close colleagues at this difficult time and we will support them as best we can.”
