Extra funding is going to be provided to train designated dog legislation officers, the Department for Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has announced.
The Association of Chief Police Officers will receive £20,000 to help deliver specialist training to officers for the role.
The Dangerous Dog Law Guidance for Enforcers was published in April this year and recommended that it would be good practice for every force to have, or have access to, a do legislation officer who can provide expert advice on dangerous dog cases and legislation, and how it can be best used to protect public safety.
