The panel concluded that had Police Constable Richard Williams still been a serving officer he would have been dismissed without notice.

The former Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officer had been given a two-year suspended sentence on January 10 after previously being found guilty of seven counts of fraud by false representation forgery.

The hearing on Thursday (April 30) found that between March 2015 and September 2017, former PC Williams had submitted, forged or altered sickness certificates.

It was alleged that these actions breached the standards of professional behaviour in respect of honesty and integrity and discreditable conduct, and that they amounted to gross misconduct.
Former PC Williams, who was attached to East Area, resigned from the MPS on February 28, 2019.
