Former hostage negotiator appointed ACC
A new assistant chief constable has been appointed for Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
A new assistant chief constable has been appointed for Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
Nav Malik previously served as temporary ACC for protective services with Warwickshire and West Mercia Police Strategic Alliance.
He will take over the role on June 1 after ACC Mark Hopkins retires.
Mr Malik said: It is an honour to have been offered this opportunity and I cant wait to get started in my new role.
I have been impressed with the work I have seen in Cambridgeshire and look forward to meeting people in the county and our partners in the coming months.
Mr Malik has 26 years policing experience, and began his career as a constable with Warwickshire Police.
Following a career that allowed him to remain within CID and major crime throughout his promotions up to detective superintendent, Mr Malik has served as Head of Intelligence, Head of Major Crime, and detective superintendent staff officer to former chief constable Keith Bristow.
He also spent more than 13 years as a hostage negotiator and co-ordinator.
Chief constable Alec Wood said: I am delighted that Nav has accepted this position and I look forward to working with him over the coming months.
