Former chief constable shares wisdom with current head of force
Stories were shared as Warwickshire Police’s current leader came face to face with one of the force’s former chief constables.
Alex Franklin-Smith welcomed Peter Joslin to a sunny Leek Wootton on Monday afternoon (April 28).
Mr Joslin – the longest serving chief constable nationally – was at the helm of the force from 1983 until he retired in 1998 while Mr Franklin-Smith was appointed chief constable in December last year.
The pair discussed the past and how things differ today as the sun shone at force headquarters.
Speaking about the experience, Mr Franklin-Smith said: “It was a real honour to meet Peter. Having led the force for more than a decade, he had a lot of stories and pearls of wisdom for me.
“We both agreed policing has probably changed somewhat since his retirement, but many of the reasons people still join and stay in the profession remain the same as well as his impeccable dress sense.
“I know Peter has fond memories of his time here and it was a wonderful opportunity for us both to catch up.”
