A man has been arrested after he crashed a burning car into a Sydney police station.
New South Wales Police officers spotted the suspect, aged in his 60s, sitting in his car outside Merrylands police station at around 7 pm on Thursday (July 21).
The man then ignited an accelerant and rammed his car reportedly loaded with gas canisters into a roller door.
Police believe he has no links to terrorist organisations, and his motives are unknown at this time.
No officers or members of the public were harmed in the incident, but the man was taken to Royal North Shore hospital suffering serious burns.
Assistant Commissioner Denis Clifford said: There is nothing to indicate this is in any way related to terrorism.
The police reacted very bravely and its just a miracle no one else was seriously injured, he added.
