Experienced and effective leader sought for Scottish Police Authority
The Scottish government is seeking a strategic leader who “embraces change and is undaunted by uncertainty” to become the next chair of the Scottish Police Authority.
The current chair, Martyn Evans, will step down at the end of his term on January 31, 2025.
Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Angela Constance MSP, is looking for an experienced and skilled leader to take over, with a “passion for improving public services, an ability to explain and account for the actions and decisions of the Authority and to build relationships with a range of organisations that work to support and strengthen policing and communities”.
Current chair Mr Evans said: “Being chair of the Scottish Police Authority is demanding, high-profile and subject to constant scrutiny. It is also immensely rewarding.
“The Authority plays a fundamental role supporting and scrutinising one of the largest policing operations in the UK. The chair and members play a valuable role supporting and strengthening policing in Scotland.
“It has been an honour and privilege to serve in the role for the last four years. I strongly encourage those with the necessary skills, experience and attributes to consider applying.”
Mr Evans recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution and dedication to public service.
The Holyrood Scottish Public Service Awards honoured his “unfaltering contribution and dedication to public service”.
The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Tuesday January 7, 2025.
