Ex-chief faces rape charges

A former top policeman has been remanded in custody charged with rape and indecently assaulting children while he was an active officer.

A former top policeman has been remanded in custody charged with rape and indecently assaulting children while he was an active officer.

Former Humberside Chief Superintendent Alec Edward Alexander, 61, is charged with a total of 13 offences over a 25 year period, from 1983 to this month.

He faces charges of rape and indecent assault of children aged under 14 and of taking and possessing indecent images. Mr Alexander, of Hull, East Yorkshire, a former divisional commander of Humberside Police, has been officially charged with raping a girl over 16 in 1992.
