Cleveland Police has given a firm commitment to equality, diversity and human rights by launching a strategy developed with employees and local groups. ‘Everyone Matters’ focuses on three areas of force work: ‘supporting people, serving communities and organisational processes’. Work is already underway with new staff training, community and cultural awareness sessions with representatives from community groups, staff mentoring and improvements to ways people can report hate crime. The strategy was created during a three-month consultation period last year, with staff workshops, online surveys and feedback from more than 20 community groups. Chief Constable Iain Spittal said: “Everyone Matters is about people. The people we work with, the people we protect and the people that we serve. “This strategy explains everything that we will focus on as we continue to build an environment in which our staff can excel, and the needs of our communities are met.”
