In response to requests from partners across the country, the Greater Manchester Community Safety Partnership is holding a national conference to explore how the National Intelligence Model (NIM) can be used in the crime and disorder reduction community.

The event will focus upon the development of the NIM into a partnership context within Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPs) and agencies, by introducing a common and consistent business process to underpin activity at a local and sub-regional level.

A spokesperson said: “There will be an opportunity to examine how, in Greater Manchester, we have adapted the NIM to work in a partnership environment, through the development of Greater Manchester Against Crime (GMAC).”

The National Intelligence Model is used in the context of partnership work to reduce crime and disorder within communities. The GMAC partnership is closely based on the National Intelligence Model and applies its principles in a partnership context in the building of communities and beating crime.

“The conference will review the partnership developments required by the Crime and Disorder Act Review and how we can most effectively accommodate the demands made through Local Area Agreements upon Crime and Disorder partnerships and Local Strategic Partnerships.

“This conference will help CDRPs of all types develop their own responses to these demands through a programme of clear and practical presentations and workshops,” the spokesperson added.

Topics to be discussed at the event will include:

  • The development of the National Intelligence Model into a partnership context.
  • Making the National Intelligence Model work in crime and disorder.
  • The impact and demands of elements of the Crime and Disorder Act review.
  • The development of strategic analysis in CDRPs.
  • How to identify our priority communities.

Speakers at the conference will include colleagues from Greater Manchester Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Greater Manchester Police, Probation, Health and Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive, and will include senior managers, practitioners and analysts.

The conference will take place on November 28 – 29 in Manchester. For more information, go to http://www.gmac.org.uk
