Orchid Cellmark, one of the UKs largest forensic service providers, has been awarded a contract to provide the Kent, Sussex and City of London Police forces with DNA testing.

Orchid Cellmark, one of the UKs largest forensic service providers, has been awarded a contract to provide the Kent, Sussex and City of London Police forces with DNA testing.
The contract with Kent and Sussex is for their PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984) crime scene stain profiling services and is a three-year contract. A five-year contract with the City of London Police will see Cellmark provide the DNA testing services for PACE mouth swab samples.
A Cellmark spokesperson said: These contracts follow the companys recent initiative to provide its services directly to UK Police forces.
David Hartshorne, Cellmark commercial director, said: We have a long history of successfully providing forensic DNA analysis services to police forces throughout Britain, but these are among the first contracts that we have been awarded under the Cellmark Forensic Services name.
We are delighted with the award of these contracts and look forward to providing the forces with the exceptional levels of quality and service that we are committed to providing to our existing customers.
Jeff Alpe, Scientific Support Manager for the City of London Police said: We believe that Cellmark Forensic Services combination of quality, rapid turnaround times and customer service represents excellent value for money. We had no hesitation in awarding them this contract.
