Bin labels encourage drivers to stick to speed limits
Recycling bins in West Dorset are now doubling as speed limit signs after safer neighbourhood team officers began distributing new speed stickers to residents.

Recycling bins in West Dorset are now doubling as speed limit signs after safer neighbourhood team officers began distributing new speed stickers to residents.
The speed limit labels are being trialled by the Marchwood Vale safer neighbourhood team in West Dorset following the success of the project by safer neighbourhood team members in Poole.
The scheme was launched by officers in Broadstone and Merley in summer 2008 following concerns about speeding in certain parts of the neighbourhood.
Through January the speeding limit labels will be distributed to hundreds of residents in the Marchwood Vale neighbourhood.
The stickers will display the respective speed limit and details of the local safer neighbourhood team.
PC Chris Forshaw, of the Marshwood Vale safer neighbourhood team, said: We have had a number of areas highlighted through the PACT (Partners and Communities Together) and community engagement process where speeding vehicles are causing concern for local residents.
The stickers provide a visual re-enforcement of the speed limits in these areas as rubbish and recycling bins are often sighted from the road.
We will be continuing to carry out speed enforcement throughout our areas as part of our commitment to respond to local concerns.
