A man has been arrested in Scotland and is being returned to Northern Ireland in relation to the murder of PC Ronan Kerr.

It is believed that officers have arrested a 26-year-old following the murder of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officer who was killed after a bomb placed under his car exploded in Omagh on April 2.

Police revealed that there has been a significant arms find, which included four rifles, detonators, component parts for rocket launchers and explosives, in the Coalisland area of east Tyrone on Tuesday night.

The weapons are now thought to be in the process of being “fast-tracked for forensic examination” and formed one line of inquiry in the 25-year-old’s murder investigation.

PC Kerr was buried at the Church of St Patrick in Drumduff earlier today. Among the mourners at the funeral were the Northern Ireland first and deputy first ministers Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness, Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny and PSNI Chief Constable Matt Baggott.
