On March 18 to 19, 200 of the top law officers and investigators from the UK will be attending the Serious and Organised Crime Exchange (SOCEX) 2015 conference, sponsored by Altia Solutions.
The topics under discussion include the changing face of organised crime and the impact on policing, cyber threats and challenges, global crime, modern slavery, drugs and child sexual exploitation.
Addressing the invited delegates will be Home Secretary Theresa May and Minister for Serious and Organised Crime and Modern Slavery Karen Bradley. Keynote speakers over the two days include senior police officers, heads of crime and investigation units and leading academics.
Altia Solutions, for the past 12 years, has been committed to working with all the key stakeholders in tackling serious and organised crime by providing software solutions and is therefore supporting the conference and the 10th annual Keith Hughes Awards for Innovation and Excellence in Financial Investigation on the evening of March 18.
As part of the solution to these complex crimes, Altias Insight is used by the regional organised crime units as well as non-police investigation authorities to effectively manage complicated investigations and streamline the production of court-ready documentation when the investigation is complete.
In addition, every police force in the UK uses Altias Investigation Toolkit to extract information from bank statements and produce highly accurate, consistent Excel spreadsheets with further detailed analysis provided by Altias Financial Analysis Toolbar. This software is used across the world, from the US and Canada, Europe and through to Australia. The time and efficiency savings to investigators have been recorded as high as 80 per cent time saved on complex cases.
The evening gala dinner celebrates the achievements of the nominees for the individual and team awards, the highlight of the evening being the presentation the 2014 annual Keith Hughes Awards.
These awards are open to accredited financial investigators and were set up in memory of Detective Constable Keith Hughes, a financial investigator with the former National Crime Squad, who died from cancer in July 2003.
They promote the values Det Con Hughes work and life inspired through recognising the achievements of those who have made an outstanding contribution within UK financial investigation and law enforcement.
Altia Solutions is very pleased to be involved with the conference and, in particular, to sponsor the Keith Hughes Awards, which are the premier awards for financial investigators in the UK. It is important that the essential role that financial investigation plays in modern criminal investigations is recognised and we all have the opportunity to celebrate the positive impact it makes on investigations.
