Two new assistant chief constables have been appointed at Cleveland Police. Jason Harwin and Adrian Roberts took up senior leadership positions at the force on Tuesday (May 2) following a competitive recruitment process. Mr Harwin joins Cleveland Police from South Yorkshire Police, where he has served as temporary ACC for local policing and district commander for Rotherham. Mr Roberts has spent 29 years with Cleveland Police, where he has held every rank up to temporary ACC. He has also been seconded to Durham Constabulary and recently spent time in Sierra Leone to help professionalise the national police service during the Ebola crisis. Chief Constable Iain Spittal said he is delighted to be able to appoint candidates of their calibre. He added: Their experience will help take the organisation forward and continue to build on the good work thats being done. Through the 2020 planning process Cleveland Police is an organisation on the path of change and in order to make the changes we need to best serve our communities its vital that we have the right staff in place. Police and crime commissioner Barry Coppinger said: With the addition of these two exceptional candidates, Cleveland Police will have the strongest executive team they have ever had and have strength and depth in the organisation. Im looking forward to working with them in taking on the policing challenges the area faces.
