Tomorrows World: Managing Expectations is the theme for this years British Association of Public Safety Communications Officers (BAPCO) conference, organised by Brintex, at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London.
The 2007 programme aims at addressing how organisations with responsibilities for public safety and civil contingencies are facing a growing number of challenges, from the increasing threat of natural disasters and man-made scenarios to organisational changes, that will impact on how services are delivered in the future.
Sessions include Captain Stephen Gordon, commander of the 911 Centre for New Orleans Police Department, Louisiana who will detail how he and his crew survived the flooding of their communications centre, explain the decision making process that evolved and how the communication system was re-built.
This year, for the first time, dedicated workshops will allow delegates to tailor the conference to their particular area of interest and debate topics.
Findings from these sessions will go towards BAPCOs official recommendations to government bodies regarding policy and practice of public safety delivery.
The conference will run alongside the BAPCO exhibition.
A number of new suppliers are exhibiting at the event including Microsoft, Pennine Telecom, Radio Hardware Supplies and Red Box Recorders. Suppliers will present public safety communications systems, and case studies for visitors to learn from successful projects
Specialists working in the field of public safety will share their experience and case studies in dedicated free seminar sessions. Topics include:
- Streamlining citizen encounters using mobile data – O2 Airwave.
- CCTV and ICCS: intelligently integrated – Frequentis.
The event runs from April 25 -26, 2007.
