His aim is to liaise with pupils, parents and staff, as well as the wider community, addressing issues such as self-esteem, bullying and anger management. He will also be tackling anti-social behaviour, providing a link between the pupils and the many diversionary activities available to them in the wider community.
The appointment of a dedicated campus police officer follows successful pilots at high schools in Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes.
Levenmouth Area Chief Inspector Andy Morris said: This initiative is part of the Safer Schools Partnership. This is a relatively new approach enhancing the learning process while ensuring young people have a safe and secure learning environment and the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
Cllr David Alexander, Chair of the Levenmouth Local Area Committee, expressed his support for the venture, adding that it was a positive initiative. Not only will it break down barriers between young people and the police but it will give young people direct access on a day-to-day basis to a serving police officer, which will be invaluable in terms of the advice and support that can be offered.
