Systems failure in Hatton Garden raid

Commander Peter Spindler said the procedures the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) has in place with alarm companies were not followed, meaning officers did not attend the premises when in fact they probably should have.
He confirmed that keyholders of the companies occupying the premises in London were notified about the alarm activation and a security officer was dispatched.
That security officer saw what our officers would have seen had they deployed; a multi-occupancy building on eight floors where in fact the premises would have appeared secure and no alarm was sounding, he said.
Last week, eight men appeared before Westminster Magistrates Court charged with conspiracy to burgle following raids on properties in London and Kent.
