Forensic Crime Scene Investigator
Type: 12-month Contract Location: Overseas Organisation: Bermuda Police Service

Applications are invited for the post of Forensic Crime Scene Investigator (FCSI) in the Forensic Support Unit of the Bermuda Police Service (BPS).

Working under the overall direction of the Officer in Charge and Detective Sergeant in the Forensic Support Unit, the FCSI will be engaged in all aspects of the forensic examination of crime scenes and any other incident which requires photography and the collection of any items pertinent to the incident.

Duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Examine all crime scenes/incidents which will include, but are not limited to murder, breaking and entering, drug seizures, firearms, theft, wilful damage, assaults, and arson for the presence of any forensic evidence;

  • Collect forensic evidence such as, but not limited to fingerprints, footprints, and biological material which may or can assist in determining how, when, where, and why a crime or incident was committed and by whom;

  • Undertake evidence gathering under all conditions, the taking of colour and/or black and white photographs, using flash photography as necessary;

  • Collect and preserve any item at a crime scene/incident which will, or is likely to, produce forensic evidence; and

  • Operate efficiently the digital photographic, video, and other computerised equipment and shall use current photography and laboratory enhancement chemical techniques for required work.


Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree with a Crime Scene Examiner Qualification or hold an equivalent qualification in a related field.

Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar position in a computerised environment with forensic photography and preparation of court evidence experience.

The role is offered for 12 months and will be based at the BPS Headquarters in Hamilton, Bermuda.
