Detective Constable – Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
Type: Permanent Location: East Midlands Organisation: Lincolnshire Police

Looking to take the next step in your policing career or bring your investigative expertise to a new environment? Lincolnshire Police could be your next opportunity.

We are currently welcoming applications from substantive Detective Constables to join our Criminal Investigation Department (CID)—a vital part of our force committed to tackling serious and complex crime. This is your opportunity to become part of a progressive, forward-thinking organisation that invests in your development and offers clear pathways for career progression.

We have CID bases at the following stations: Lincoln, Gainsborough, Grantham, Boston, Spalding, Skegness and Louth

We're currently welcoming applications from Detective Constable transferees to join our team in 2026, with multiple intakes planned throughout the year.

Our PIP2-accredited detectives play a crucial role in safeguarding vulnerable individuals and bringing offenders to justice. As a Detective in CID, you'll be at the forefront of specialist investigations, including:

- Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking

- Serious violence and organised crime

- Drug trafficking operations

- Residential burglary investigations

You’ll contribute to both reactive and proactive casework, working collaboratively across teams and departments to detect crime, disrupt offenders, and protect communities from further harm.

To be eligible to apply, candidates must already hold PIP2 accreditation and be prepared to contribute from the outset.

If you’re looking to thrive in a collaborative and committed investigative team, Lincolnshire CID could be where your experience creates real impact. Together, we can shape safer communities and build meaningful change.

A force that’s honest about our reality—and proud of our people.

At Lincolnshire Police, we don’t shy away from the challenges we face. As our Chief Constable has outlined, we are operating in a financially constrained environment and are currently in the ‘Engage’ phase of enhanced monitoring following our latest HMICFRS inspection. We're addressing a projected £19 million budget deficit by 2027/28, and we know this requires focus, resilience, and collective determination.

But with clear leadership, a commitment to improvement, and a team that truly pulls together, we continue to deliver for our communities. We believe that experienced officers from other forces bring vital insight, energy, and innovation to help us move forward. You could be part of that.

To support a smooth transition into Lincolnshire Police, we are pleased to offer a Transferring Officer Relocation Expenses Package for eligible applicants. This package allows transferees to claim up to £8,000 towards the costs associated with relocating to Lincolnshire.

Eligible expenses may include:

  • Removal and storage fees

  • Solicitor’s and estate agent fees related to the sale of your former home (against pre-agreed estimates)

  • Solicitor’s fees, estate agent fees, and stamp duty costs for acquiring a new property

  • Initial expenses for arranging rental of a previously owned property

We also welcome applications from those seeking part-time or flexible working arrangements.
