Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced senior police officers for the post of Chief Constable.
A beautiful place to live and work, Dorset boasts a high performing force with the latest crime statistics making us the fifth safest force area. The successful candidate will be expected to build on the strong relationships which exist between the Force and our communities and set out a clear path for continuous improvement and performance.
Critical to this will be strong understanding and demonstrable leadership in the areas of fighting crime, value for money, productivity and efficiency as well as public protection, vulnerability and prevention. This balanced perspective will be essential to address the strategic financial and demand challenges facing the Force and the wider police service.
The successful candidate will build on the current position and continue to drive performance and public outcomes – reducing crime and ASB, improving investigation outcomes, victims’ services, and making a difference to those who live, work or visit Dorset by delivering the priorities in the Police and Crime Plan, and driving the Force towards being the safest county.
The salary is £181,575 plus the usual expenses and allowances applicable to this level of seniority, including reasonable removal/relocation expenses. The appointment will be subject to vetting and medical clearances and to the provisions of the Police Acts, Regulations and Determinations.
The closing date for applications is 12pm on Thursday 30 April.
In the first instance, interested candidates should contact Simon Bullock, OPCC Chief Executive at
simon.bullock@dorset.pnn.police.uk.
