Kevin Mathieson, Taysides new chief constable, has pledged that he will focus on improving performance at the force.
Mr Mathieson joined Tayside Police in February last year as assistant chief constable. Since joining the force, he has embarked on a drive to boost efficiency and high standards.
Mr Mathieson, who joined the police service as a PC with Grampian Police in 1978, said he was looking forward with great anticipation to leading the force in the years to come.
Mr Mathieson worked with CID in Aberdeen before joining the Scottish Crime Squad and in 1997, after being promoted to superintendent, he became area commander in Aberdeen, a post that he carried until May 2000, when he joined Her Majestys Inspectorate of Constabulary at the Home Office.
In 2001 he returned to Grampian Police and was promoted to chief superintendent, becoming head of operational support, before being appointed an assistant chief constable with Northumbria Police two years later.
My focus will be upon improving the performance of Tayside Police and, just as importantly, the quality of service that we provide to the public, he said.
