In the revised national vetting policy, it is proposed that enhanced vetting will be replaced by management vetting.

The new method is in line with
the National Intelligence Model and plugs gaps in national security vetting. Candidates must have it done to gain regular access to secret police material.

Management vetting differs from a security check in that the latter checks the individual against the PNC, and against National Security databases – along with partner and parents – and features a credit reference check.

Enhanced management vetting
will be a prerequisite to developed vetting clearance. It includes all the steps of management vetting, but allows regular, frequent and uncontrolled access to top secret police assets. Developed vetting is a lengthy and costly process; enhanced management vetting should lead to cost savings as a majority of enquiries will be done in-house.
