The charity Missing People this month launched an online Missing Map of the UK and Missing People TV, a channel collating media messages from the families of the missing.

Missing People’s Missing Map enables people to view which vulnerable people are missing from around the UK, and is spilt into regions to allow users to see who the charity are searching for in their area. It also includes video appeals and the first Missing People video podcast.

Missing People hope that this combined with Missing People TV, will engage the public in the search for missing people and help to reunite more families.

“We are delighted to announce the launch of the UK Missing Map,” said Paul Tuohy, chief executive of Missing People.

“It is the first time our vulnerable cases have been presented in this way. Thousands of people go missing each year and we hope that this will enable us to highlight our most vulnerable cases in way that is interesting and relevant to the public.”

Mr Tuohy added: “Missing People TV and our new video appeals will allow us to reach supporters and potentially vulnerable groups via social networking sites and to offer families of the missing opportunities to post their own special appeals.”
