Skills for Justice presented the Justice award for conflict management at a new awards ceremony last week. The awards aim to recognise the work being done by many on a day-to-day basis to manage and reduce work-related violence.
The event, which took place in Reading in September, was hosted by ConflictPro, a new organisation providing continuing professional development for those working in conflict resolution.
Employers in the Justice sector were asked to nominate employees who, through outstanding management or individual action, have made a real contribution to reducing conflict and violence in their workplace, creating a safer workplace for staff, customers or service users.
Sally Ambrose, marketing and business development director at Skills for Justice presented Rob Cook, physical education and personal safety trainer at North Yorkshire Police, with the Justice award for individual achievement in conflict resolution and violence management.
She said: I was delighted to present this new Justice award. Rob clearly demonstrated his professionalism to training and development and as a result has increased standards of conflict management.
Mr Cook said: I am very pleased and honoured to be presented with this award from Skills for Justice.
ConflictPro`s business manager, Mark Jenner, said: With the Justice sector covering court and custodial services, prison officers, as well as police and community police officers, there is a wide spectrum of professionals for whom it is imperative to have conflict management skills.
Other awards at the ceremony were presented by City & Guilds, Skills for Security, GoSkills, Royal College of Nursing, Ambulance Service Association and the British Institute of Inn Keeping.
