With the threat of terrorism continuing to be a real and present danger, the number of CCTV cameras that are deployed in the UKs towns and cities has continued to grow.
There are now approximately 500,000 cameras in London alone, and its estimated that it would take one Londoner in every 16 to become a security guard to monitor these cameras alone.
Video surveillance has expanded widely over the past few years to meet ever more stringent security demands. Current infrastructures depend mainly on vigilance on the part of operators, so there is always the risk of not detecting an important event in time to take action. By using the most sophisticated, high-performance 4D technology currently available on the market, the joint solution offered by Bull and Keeneo significantly increases the likelihood of real-time detection, cuts the number of false alarms and enables wide-scale deployment.
Bull and Keeneo announce a partnership to deliver into the UK and other countries in Europe their intelligent video surveillance software. Using its 4D (three spatial plus temporal) technology, Keeneo can not only provide a more accurate picture than existing video surveillance software but it also provides an intelligent function, helping operators to prevent crime by alerting them to suspicious behaviour.
Instead of the usual 2D pictures, the solution relies upon a 4D image which enables the operator to see the distances involved, for example between a person and a suitcase on a railway platform. Not only can the operator see whether that suitcase has been left posing a possible security risk but by acting as a virtual brain, the Bull and Keeneo solution 4D technology alerts the operator to any unusual activity, raising the alarm for a security guard if required.
Running on NovaScale, a new generation of open mainframe-class servers from Bull, ensures total integration within existing video surveillance equipment and provides the potential for more cameras to be deployed using the same number of operators. The solution takes also the benefits of the long-standing experience of Bull in complex security systems.
Thomas Herlin, Keeneos Chief Executive Officer emphasises: The partnership with Bull is totally in line with our strategy to be a successful independent software vendor and enables us to distribute Keeneos technology to a growing number of customers and countries. The combination of Keeneos software packages and Bull hardware provides a high-performance, global solution that is simple and competitively priced for our customers.
