A new imaging product for detecting concealed items was unveiled at the recent MILIPOL exhibition in Paris.

ThruVision has demonstrated a technique whereby images are formed using the naturally occurring terahertz waves that are produced by all objects and people.

The technology is free from radiation such as X-rays which could be harmful over long periods of exposure. ThruVision will be rolling out their detection devices throughout 2006. As the detection units are small – typically 10cm – portable units can be used and are expected to have a major impact on the detection of concealed objects in the field.
