New training partnership is offering courses to giving staff the chance to get to grips with the latest CCTV technology in a hands on, real-life environment.

The HOSDB (Home Office Development Branch), formerly the PSDB (Police Scientific Development Branch) are working in partnership with the National Security Advice Centre (NSAC) and the Security Industry Training Organisation (SITO) to provide new practical accredited training courses in physical security.

Chris Jenkinson, Training Manager at HOSDB, said “Our courses provide students with practical training that is simply not available elsewhere. The style of training is very hands-on, allowing students to learn about and view products before testing them. For example, all the syndicate rooms are linked to cameras in our grounds so delegates can carry out live CCTV audits in different lighting conditions to test the performance of the cameras.”

In 2005/6 the following core courses will be accredited: CCTV and Lighting, Detection Systems, Barriers and Control of Access, Security Surveys. All three courses will be available from autumn 2005 at the HOSDB Training Centre in Horsham, West Sussex. Contact the HOSDB on 01403 213800 for further information.
