Met logs in to IT standard
The Met has become the 24th force to sign up to the nationally approved computer systems for managing custody and case file preparation.
The systems have been developed by PITO and supplier Vivista under the National Strategy for Police Information Systems (NSPIS) which is attempting to standardise IT use throughout the country.
In the past two weeks Thames Valley Police has gone live with NSPIS Custody and Case Preparation and Derbyshire Constabulary has implemented NSPIS Custody, having already gone live with NSPIS Case Preparation.
The Met piloted the NSPIS Custody and Case Preparation applications in the Borough of Newham before signing the contract. NSPIS Custody is live in a further ten forces and 12 forces have NSPIS Case Preparation in operational use.
