New MSc in Cybercrime Forensics
Police investigating cybercrime and the recovery and analysis of digital evidence now have the opportunity to achieve an MSc in Cybercrime Forensics following a collaborative agreement between Canterbury Christ Church University College and Centrex s National Specialist Law Enforcement Centre (NSLEC).
Students will be able to study for a Post Graduate Certificate (PGC), Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) and Masters Degree (MSc), the first formal qualifications for police staff involved in the field of cybercrime forensics from the initial crime scene examination and recovery of data, to its analysis and the investigation of the actual crime. Initially, the MSc programme will be delivered at NSLEC in Wyboston, on a part time basis.
Nigel Jones, Head of High Tech Crime Training at NSLEC said: “We recognise that it is vital for courts to be able to rely on the advice and evidence presented to them in criminal investigations, and with this new award we can ensure that police staff working in this arena will have up to date, academic qualifications and currency of knowledge backed up by a programme of continual professional development.”
