Police officers and staff are being invited to apply for a new scholarship to study for a Masters Degree offered by a top management school.

The Cranfield School of Management will pay half of the £26,000 tuition fees for an individual to study their one-year full time Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from September 2005, or just over a third of the fees for a two year part-time MBA starting in January 2006.
John Glen, Director of Cranfield School of Management`s full-time MBA programme, said the scholarship comes at a critical time for criminal justice organisations.
“The sector is currently undergoing
major reform and modernisation and there is a growing need for effective management development to help ensure these changes are implemented efficiently and successfully.
“This scholarship will give managers from the criminal justice sector the opportunity to develop their management skills at one of the top business schools in Europe, enabling them to apply their new-found knowledge and skills in the workplace.”
Guy Rutter, who is now a Chief Superintendent and Divisional Commander for West Mercia Constabulary, completed the full-time MBA programme in 1994 as an inspector with Bedfordshire Police.
He said: “What stands out most in my mind are the people. The students in the learning teams supporting and learning from each other; the quality and accessibility of the teaching faculty; and the information professionals and administrative staff, who were fantastic.”
The Criminal Justice Scholarship is open to anyone connected with the criminal justice sector who meets MBA requirements. Candidates for the scholarships must apply by June 30, 2005. Full programme and application details are available at www.cranfieldMBA.info
