They say you always hurt the one you love – and one officer is about to find out whether that`s true this weekend. While the object of this charity event involves boosting the force`s annual Christmas toy appeal – the method of fundraising could prove a painstaking exercise. For officers from the DeRidder Police Department in Louisiana have come up with the crazy notion of `shooting` one of their own on Saturday (April 15). They are raffling off a grand prize that has shocked some – and may stun at least one more – the use of a Taser on an officer from the US police department. DeRidder Police Chief John Gott, who confirmed that his officers came up with the suggestion themselves, said: “They are willing to do whatever it takes to purchase toys for local families in need.” Mr Gott says a certified instructor will shoot the stun gun under controlled conditions, showing what officers must endure in training. Rules of engagement: The lucky prize winner who will have a free pot shot at the officer is “intended” to be an adult. The Gott-ya moment has received a “largely positive” reaction, he added.
