US crime agencies are being accused of setting up fugitive Julian Assange holed up in Londons Ecuadorian embassy since 2012. British-born singer Leo Sayer is the latest international celebrity to claim the WikiLeaks founder is a victim of injustice as he tries to avoid extradition to Sweden over sex assault allegations. Mr Sayer said he would visit him at the embassy as he starts a UK tour this month to promote his latest album, which includes a track about Mr Assange called The Wrong Man. The One Man Band singer added: Youve got the FBI and CIA trying to pin some law on him. Hes a vigilante for the press. You need people like him, he reveals the truth, theyre all scared of the truth of course. Mr Assange, who denies the allegations, fears that if he goes to Sweden he will be sent to the US for prosecution over leaking secret files. Meanwhile Baywatch actress Pamela Anderson, who has become a regular visitor at the embassy, is said to have a special relationship with Mr Assange. She wrote on her blog, the Pamela Anderson Foundation, that the 45-year-old businessman might be the most famous, most politicised refugee of all, adding: “Famous for being persecuted is not a position of power but a position of vulnerability. Julian is a human being who is extremely empathetic and cares deeply about the world. And because of his work he has made some powerful enemies in a few countries, America especially, by exposing them.”
