MPS officer dismissed after restraining order imposed
A Metropolitan Police Service officer has been dismissed without notice after a court imposed a restraining order protecting a woman known to him.
PC Dawid Lewicki, who was attached to the Met’s South West Command Unit, was dismissed following an accelerated misconduct hearing.
Westminster Magistrates’ Court imposed the restraining order on 12 June. The order prohibits PC Lewicki from making direct or indirect contact with the woman and from attending her home or workplace. It remains in force until 11 June 2028.
A misconduct hearing on 28 August found an allegation of gross misconduct proven against PC Lewicki. The panel found that he had breached the standards of professional behaviour relating to discreditable conduct.
Chief Superintendent Dan Knowles, in charge of policing for south west London, said police officers were expected to uphold the law and maintain high standards both on and off duty. “The public rightly expect officers to act with integrity and off-duty conduct that requires a court-imposed order seriously undermines trust in policing,” he said. “PC Lewicki’s actions amounted to gross misconduct and his dismissal without notice was the appropriate outcome.”
PC Lewicki will be added to the College of Policing Barred List, preventing him from rejoining the police service or undertaking certain other policing-related roles in the future.
