Mother jailed for removing murder weapon after Henry Nowak stabbing
The mother of a man jailed for murdering Southampton student Henry Nowak has been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment after removing the knife used in the attack.
Kiran Kaur was sentenced at Southampton Crown Court on Friday, 17 July, after being convicted of assisting an offender by taking possession of, and removing, the murder weapon following the fatal stabbing.
Her son, Vickrum Digwa, stabbed 18-year-old Henry Nowak to death in Southampton on 3 December 2025. In June, Digwa was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years.
The Crown Prosecution Service said Kaur removed the knife in an attempt to help her son and hinder the police investigation.
Kelly Newman, of the CPS, said: “Those who seek to help murderers evade justice should be in no doubt that they too will be held accountable for their actions.”
The CPS said an Independent Office for Police Conduct investigation remains ongoing. Criminal proceedings involving Vickrum Digwa, Gurpreet Digwa and Moga Singh are also continuing.
