Surrey Police welcomes new deputy chief constable
Surrey Police has officially appointed its new deputy chief constable. Mark McEwan takes up the position from outgoing Deputy Chief Constable Nev Kemp.
Mr McEwan brings extensive experience in policing, including more than 26 years serving for the Police Service of Northern Ireland and Metropolitan Police Service.
Throughout his career, he has navigated highly politicised and challenging environments, working in a breadth of roles including community policing, counter-terrorism, investigations, human rights, equality and diversity, crime prevention and change management.
Mr McEwan said: “I am excited to be joining Surrey Police. The force has a clear vision and direction set out in Our Plan and I look forward to working with colleagues to deliver it for the people of Surrey.”
Chief Constable Tim De Meyer said: “I am sure that colleagues across our force will wish to join me in warmly welcoming DCC Mark McEwan to Surrey Police. Mark’s extensive experience of crime-fighting, community policing, operations and change management – gained in some of the most testing jobs in UK policing – will serve us and the people of Surrey very well in the challenge ahead.”
