He previously served with the force between 2008 and 2022 where he reached the rank of chief superintendent.

The appointment follows the departure of current Deputy Chief Constable Simon Megicks, who will take up the role of chief constable of Cambridgeshire Constabulary later this month.

Mr Marshall rejoins Norfolk from Humberside Police following a “rigorous recruitment process”.

During his time at Norfolk Constabulary he worked extensively in uniformed frontline policing as a district commander in North Norfolk, King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, and Norwich.

At Humberside Police  he served as assistant chief constable before being promoted to deputy chief constable in August 2023.

Mr Marshall started his policing career at West Yorkshire Police in 1995.

Chief Constable Paul Sanford said: “I look forward to working with Dave in the years ahead, delivering strong and effective leadership across the force and helping achieve our aim of providing exceptional policing for Norfolk.”
