Law Enforcement Advisor
Type: 12-month contract Location: Overseas Organisation: Bermuda Police Service

Salary: $91,668.00 per annum

Applications are invited for the post of Law Enforcement Advisor in the Financial Crime Unit of the Bermuda Police Service (BPS). Working under the overall direction of the Officer in Charge of the Crime Division, the post holder will provide expert law enforcement advice and services in line with recommendations from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

Duties include, but are not limited to:


  • Assisting with the making of technical recommendations, interpretations and implementation of the FATF 40 Recommendations, and obligations expressed in relevant international conventions.

  • Assisting with the preparation and execution of the Mutual Evaluation Programme, including taking a leadership role during on-site visits.

  • Assist with the preparation of all required technical reports (MERs, Follow-up Reports etc.), for presentation to the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) at Plenary, and other seminars.

  • Assist with coordinating the work of assigned Working Groups involved with the work of the Office of the National Anti-Money Laundering Committee (NAMLC), providing summary records and distributing relevant documentation, and coordinating participation.

  • Monitor global Anti-Money Laundering, Combating the Financing of Terrorism and Proliferation Financing trends and patterns in the region and internationally.


Applicants must be a currently trained FATF Law Enforcement Assessor, with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or related discipline.

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree) in any of the aforementioned subject areas, or certifications such as ACAMS, ICA or CFE, is desirable.

Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a financial investigator or financial analyst, in a Financial Intelligence Unit or Law Enforcement organisation, at the national and/or international level.

The role is offered for 12 months and will be based at the Financial Crime Unit, Specialists Investigations Department, Hamilton, Bermuda.
