Chair of the PDS Board, the police, fire and crime commissioner for Cumbria, Dave Allen, said: “Jeremy’s experience and knowledge will help PDS enable law enforcement to protect the public through its use of effective, efficient and secure digital, data and technology.

“We welcome Jeremy onto the Board and look forward to working with him to support PDS in delivering for policing and the public.”

Mr Vaughan, who has been the chief constable of South Wales Police since November 2020, began his policing career in 1996 with North Wales Police and served the communities of North Wales across a variety of roles for 20 years, working up to the rank of chief superintendent, where he took responsibility for local policing services.

In 2016 he transferred to South Wales Police as assistant chief constable with responsibility for Specialist Operations, including professional standards, criminal justice, operational planning and the Public Service Centre.

In December 2017, he took responsibility for the territorial policing portfolio, including leading on Neighbourhood and Response Policing. He remained as head of this portfolio until he was promoted to deputy chief constable in 2019.

In addition to his force responsibilities, Mr Vaughan is the vice-chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), and chair of the NPCC Science and Innovation Coordination Committee, which aims to provide strategic guidance and direction for the delivery and implementation of the National Policing Science and Technology (S&T) Strategy.

In December 2024 Mr Vaughan was recognised in the New Year Honours list, being awarded a King’s Police Medal (KPM) for services to policing.
