Excellence in Policing 2021 – ‘Joining the dots’
Following the outstanding success of last year’s Excellence in Policing (EIP) online event, the organisers are “delighted to announce” that IBM has agreed to stage EIP 21 on its Watson Media Platform once again.
The theme for this year’s online event, being held on Thursday November 11 and Friday November 12, is ‘Joining the dots: understanding the changing policing and performance landscape’.
EIP 2021 will explore the emerging performance framework, how it will influence what the police do and how centrally-driven expectations can be reconciled with the local needs of different operational contexts. It will consider what enables excellence in police practice, with particular emphasis on how technology can help realise the potential of information resources to improve how the police make decisions, plan and stand up to scrutiny.
As the demands for services provided by police continue to diversify and increase in both their number and complexity, EIP 2021 aims to assist leaders and practitioners to see the emerging picture and understand the ways in which the wider policing and performance landscape is changing.
Many people involved in the management and delivery of policing have come to regard the annual EIP conference as one of the most valuable forums for keeping up to date with developments and gaining insights into what the future holds. Some of the most influential figures in UK policing share current thinking and subject experts contribute a wide range of case studies and ideas as to how quality policing can be delivered in a fast moving and economically challenging environment.
Planning for EIP 21, organised by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) Performance Management Coordination Committee with support from the College of Policing, is well underway and the event is now open for registrations. It will follow the proven EIP format, featuring keynote briefings by influential speakers, conversations and interactive sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to submit questions, participate in real-time polls and engage in live chat with other participants.
Confirmed speakers include:
Kit Malthouse MP, Minister of State for Crime and Policing;
Dame Cressida Dick DBE QPM, Commissioner, Metropolitan Police Service;
Martin Hewitt QPM, chair of the National Police Chiefs’ Council;
Sir Thomas Winsor, Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector;
Shaun Sawyer QPM, chair of the NPCC Performance Management Coordination Committee; and
David McCandless, data journalist, writer and information designer.
The event will also feature sessions led by the College of Policing, the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, leading academics, IBM and other subject specialists.
Once again, Police Professional will be the media partner for the event.
Participation in EIP 21 is restricted to police organisations but a small number of ‘exhibitor tickets’ will be available to the private sector organisations to showcase relevant products and services that support and enhance the delivery of policing.
Police forces and other police organisations, including police and crime commissioners’ offices, the College of Policing, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services, National Crime Agency and staff associations are now invited to register, together with public sector delivery partners.
