Attempted murder arrest after four MPS officers injured in crash
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after four officers from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) were injured following a crash in Southwark, South London.
A police vehicle was involved in a collision around 1.30am on October 20. The driver of the police vehicle remains in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries. Another officer also remains in hospital with injuries that are not believed life-threatening or life-changing.
Two other officers have been discharged with minor injuries. Another officer sustained minor injuries during the arrest.
The driver of the other vehicle – a man aged in his twenties – was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A statement issued by the MPS said that another man who was also in the vehicle is believed to have fled the scene. Inquiries to locate him are ongoing.
The investigation is being led by detectives from Central South CID , supported by colleagues from the Roads and Transport Policing Command. The MPS’s Department of Professional Standards has also been informed as a matter of routine.
